The Seiler Dual Port Beamsplitter is intended for use with the Alpha Air 3 and Alpha Air 6 dental/ENT microscopes, as well as Seiler colposcopes. The beamsplitter allows the light path to be split, allowing a video camera, digital camera, or an assistant head to be attached to the microscope. The most common beamsplitter used is a 50-50 / 20-80, which means one side splits the light 50% into the user's eye and 50% into a digital camera, while the 20-80 side is 20% into a video camera and 80% to the user's eye.
Seiler has created a specific beamsplitter to attain the highest quality imaging. Seiler utilizes a Two-Prism System within their Dual Port Beamsplitter. The beamsplitter has one port contain a 50/50 Prism, and the other port a 20/80 Prism. Video and digital cameras require different light measurements, with video requiring lesser light than digital camera. Hence, the 50/50 Prism allows more light to be refracted into the digital adapter to attain the best digital picture, and the 20/80 Port is utilized for video imaging purposes.
The versatile beamsplitter is also compatible with previous models such as the Evolution xR6 and IQ dental/ENT microscopes.
